Our Verdict​​ The Google Home Max and the Apple HomePod (1st generation) are two speakers with a voice assistant built-in, and you may prefer one over the other.

In short, the Google Home Max delivers more of a wallop, but the HomePod is better tuned and, overall, we think it's the better sounding speaker. But only just.
